Frequently Asked Questions

Intense Pulsed Light IPL operates using a process known as photo thermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment with a built-in sapphire cooling tip. During treatment, a transparent water-soluble gel is applied to the skin followed by a bright flash of light from the IPL handpiece that feels like a light elastic band and warm sensation is expected. Proper eye shield is provided for protection against the intense-pulsed light.

Lumecca Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) delivers 500-600 nm of light wavelength which is wider in comparison to other IPL machines in the market. It has two cutoff filters that effectively targets specific skin types and concerns. This means that our Skincare Specialist can safely treat a variety of lesions with fewer sessions, saving you time and money.

Lumecca IPL can be used on all areas of the body, the most common being those that are regularly exposed to the sun, including the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms.

Multiple sessions provide maximum results. The treatment plan depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs pigmentation), and energy settings that is why an initial thorough consultation with our Skincare Specialist at SkinCision By Allen Rezai MD is highly necessary. After you have achieved your goals, maintenance sessions may be advised every four to six months.

Downtime is minimal. You should be able to return to most normal activities straight after treatment. However, it is advised that you avoid excessive sunlight and tanning for several weeks after treatment as the skin will be sensitive. Our Skincare Specialist will go through this with you, as well as any SkinCeuticals home-aftercare products you should use. Note that you may experience some visible redness in the treated area. This will subside normally a few hours.

We will carry out a small, painless patch test, on the treatment area prior the procedure to determine your suitability for the treatment. This will be at the same time as the initial consultation with our fully qualified skincare specialist at SkinCision By Allen Rezai MD.
